Installation and Care

The tile mural is numbered from left to right. We recommend a professional tile installer be used to install the tile mural. While we do guarantee the quality of our tile mural, we are not responsible for any damage incurred during installation or handling. (We will be glad to replace broken tiles for a small fee per tile--$18 per piece plus shipping).

You should use a natural stone adhesive such as “Type 1 Mastik” or “Ultracontact”. We recommend that the tiles be set no more than
1/8" apart before grouting. (With most of our tumbled marble murals, the tiles can actually be butted up to one another, and once grouted, you will achieve about a 1/8” joint). A sanded grout can be used, follow instructions on grout packaging, and wipe down tile mural repeatedly until tiles are clear of excess grout(usually at least 10 times). Do not leave excess grout on mural, wipe away immediately. For more porous and pocked stone tiles, more care can be used in wiping out the grout from pock marks.  The more pocked and rough tiles will have a much more aged and rustic look to them once grouted.

The paint we use is water resistant, heat resistant, and washable with a mild soap detergent, we do not recommend abrasive cleaners or steel wool. Do not use alcohol based products. The tiles have also been sealed and finished with a stone silicone impregnator, and most tile and grout sealers are compatible.

We recommend that your tile installer apply at least another coat of water-acrylic based tile and grout sealer over the finished installation to protect from liquids being absorbed into tiles and grout. This will make your art incredibly durable and washable.
